We Started Because the Internet Needed More Honesty
OpinionHook started with a straightforward idea: most travel and lifestyle content online is written by people who researched a destination on Google rather than actually going there. We wanted to change that.
We built OpinionHook as a publication where every article comes from someone with direct, first-hand experience of the subject they're writing about. Not rewritten press releases. Not padded-out listicles. Actual perspectives from people who have been there, tried it, or built their career around it.

OpinionHook is edited by Varinder Kaur, a travel writer and former journalist based in Mohali. She started OpinionHook in 2023 after spending six years writing for travel publications and wanting to build something Independent.

At OpinionHook, publishing something is a decision we never take lightly. Every
piece of content — whether written by our in-house team or a guest contributor —
goes through the same review process. Here's what that looks like:
We do not publish duplicate, plagiarized, or spun content — full stop.
Every article on OpinionHook must bring something new to the table, whether
that's a fresh angle, original data, or a perspective you won't find elsewhere. Every submission — including AI-assisted drafts — is reviewed and edited
by a real person before publication. We check for factual accuracy, logical
consistency, tone, and overall usefulness to the reader. We write for humans, not search engines. Our goal is always for a reader
to finish an article feeling like they gained something — not just that they
consumed something. If it's not genuinely useful, it doesn't get published. Every published piece clearly shows who wrote it. We believe in accountability —
our writers stand behind their work with their names on it, and we stand
behind our writers. We have zero tolerance for misinformation, hate speech, or content designed
to deceive. Our readers trust us. We protect that trust actively, not just
in policy but in every publishing decision we make.
Every article submitted to OpinionHook is personally read and reviewed before publication. We check for factual accuracy, genuine first-hand experience, and real value to the reader.
We do not publish AI-generated content submitted without original perspective, promotional pieces disguised as editorial, or duplicate content.
